Chapter 5

True Initiation .:. The Full Transformation

ARK+CROW chose 13 out of the dozens of songs to release as a self-titled debut album. They worked so hard to accomplish this and the music they made truly resonates with the heartfelt soul. This first attempt of a release fell short because Carmen went through intense life changes. What happened right before/after the release was more than she could handle and it impacted her ability to continue forward with promoting the music. Her older sister was dealing with a potentially fatal auto-immune disease; another one of Carmen’s childhood friends committed suicide; she was left floating without the right tools to deal with the grief. Shortly after that, she was suddenly hit by a car while crossing the street in Santa Barbara. She tried to keep going but no longer had the capacity to and chose to return to her roots in New York that year. She changed her name, fell out of sight and just did her best to find peace. She surrendered to the full transformation.
