The Horizon 03:48
The Horizon I can sink my eyes in I am rising Got my whole life ahead of me The Horizon I can sink my eyes in I am rising The past is truly dead to me Sitting on a mission that is bigger than my ass No slacking, lackadaisical or harping on the past Another chance will come even though my last one crashed Learning all the time to embrace the shadow's facts Elegance is beauty but my fun is truly crass With this lifetime, give to my breath's last Walking on the edge between what people never ask Saying what I want just to see what even happens Picking up transmissions from my radio head I can tune into them and let circuitry spread Antennae honesty with no pretense Trusting these guidelines I'm beautifully intense The Horizon I can sink my eyes in I am rising Got my whole life ahead of me The Horizon I can sink my eyes in I am rising The past is truly dead to me Dodging left and right the sticky, icky low blows I laugh and walk away and choose to take the high roads The things that I could say would undo fates of my few foes But instead I use these words to write within my gospels Hopping on a train to cut distance right in half I sing, whistle blow in harmony as I extract The sting of loss of those I thought that actually had my back Truth is that only really wanted what I have and Picking up transmissions from my radio head I can tune into them like a fair-weather friend I give 'em no time when there's no respect Let them fall to side lines- the past is dead Hell no- with you I won't be breaking bread Freudian slips on my full lips Roll my eyes at your head trips I fill up my cup and don't drip I walk right past shady players with fake scripts Nay-sayers, the matrix I take my sword and I cut this With reverence I crush this Rising ripe in my own timing Eyes on the horizon The Horizon I can sink my eyes in I am rising Got my whole life ahead of me The Horizon I can sink my eyes in I am rising The past is truly dead to me

The answers came at once in a tidal wave Engage in the blocks that were made To save your life- each layer Of encrusted cement We glazed over acting older Thinking we could never lament sober Cuz we were spent A fake nice with a guarded spice Just so we could melt the ice and get through the day Of ego scab-picking play No longer prey or predator I choose to better her Myself, My Queen Reveal the unseen I don't need to explain what I mean Privy does and privy is A gentle soul with a heavy sivv Ready to let go of a dig This world can be so shallow Spirit lives! I work to shine my halo in the mist Thick in the mix of a deep soul I give freely- then I let go These secret stories of ancient sky To vast to hold in my human eye Watching life pass me by Tired of wheels spinning Everyone racing- no one winning Quick! The light is dimming! I write to live, paying a dollar, I gladly give For lined freedom of black composition Blank pages put between them So held back by deep engagements Found helpers, ancient sages Captured by sabotage- bad seeds of mirage So conceded, glad you made it I receded, now I'm gaining I'd rather bleed and be humbled Like low-dry on tumble That's the way the cookie crumbles And when I stumbled You're so viciously advantageous No, you never hesitated Privy does and privy is A gentle soul with a heavy sivv Ready to let go of a dig This world can be so shallow Spirit lives! I work to shine my halo in the mist Thick in the mix of a deep soul I give freely- then I let go These secret stories of ancient sky To vast to hold in my human eye Watching life pass me by Tired of wheels spinning Everyone racing- no one winning Quick! The light is dimming!

Whether or not you feel that what I got is hot Song one you can call the job done I was about to go but no because the fun's just begun You didn't know that I could spit a verse like this Neither did I until I stopped trying and just did it Whether or not you feel that what I got is hot Or cold or bold or not This flow you just can't stop It's coming out my mouth and it's ringing in my ears And I got the best of both worlds serving me like Belvedere I got rhythm and I was born with it I was dancing in my mamaz womb Just ask her check my credit I danced before I walked and I sang before I talked And the gifts that have been brought to me Are blessed and never stop I use it for good to serve the less fortunate Where I come from is not a palace But that's where I'm headed I feel fancy but I got no gold yet I gamble with dry because I'm slippery when wet Whether or not you feel that what I got is hot Or cold or bold or not This flow you just can't stop Though I can pass as white bread, I'm Puerto-Rican Irish, Peruvian, 5th generation Incan I dress loud and I'm tweekin' on the weekend And I own it and I know it And I'm blessed to be a freak and New York roots with a Nor-Cal nest I'm here to build a world where I can feel tough in a dress It's okay to make a mess if you just do your best

Love is a funny thing You never know when it's gonna sting Don't give up girl! Keep your heart open, yea! Don't give up girl! You've got to bring it, yea! High times, write rhymes I don't really know how to act sometimes Cross lines, cause crimes Think that it's better that we read signs Make right, take time I see in plain sight Ready for the night Ready for a shift Calling in the highest level lift I feel my Spirit gift Calling in the highest love One that I know that I'm worthy of Keep your heart open! Love is a funny thing You never know when it's gonna sting Don't give up girl! Keep your heart open, yea! Don't give up girl! You've got to bring it, yea! High times, write rhymes I don't really know how to act sometimes Cross lines, cause crimes Think that it's better that we read signs Make right, take time I see in plain sight Ready for the night Ready for a shift Calling in the highest level lift I feel my Spirit gift Calling in the highest love One that I know that I'm worthy of Taking chances with romance When it's worthy of the risk, yea Love is worthy of the risk Yea yea yea yea yea yea Keep your heart open!

Chapter 7

The Horizon .:. The Atonement

After being sober for a few months, she went back on a national tour to play her acoustic songs. Ending up back in California after the tour, she reconnected with some fellow east coast transplants and began working on another electronic project. In between work, music and nature, she read everything she could and stayed close with mentors who helped her start the process of sobriety. She continued to do everything she could to stay on that path. She began to write long winded raps through freestyle to help her deal with an overactive mind. She meditated and practiced various healing modalities in her new state of sobriety. Anything that helped, she did. The writing, rapping over beats and music made by established professional drummer and music producer, B-Riddimz, helped a lot. He can produce tracks so quickly and as Carmen was writing, he was crafting textured 808, breakbeat and trap soundscapes like a ninja. Carmen began to use music more with intention and clarity to heal herself through self-expression and verbose lyricism. This was the atonement period.
